By August of 2003, the Michigan State trooper who conducted the traffic study for the Whitefish Point Traffic Control Order retired. His replacement brought a copy of the 1996 Traffic Control Order to the Whitefish Township office when he was asked to conduct a traffic study about excessive speed on the Whitefish Point Road. The 1996 Traffic Control Order was faxed to the Chippewa County Clerk, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on August 21, 2003.
